This three day weekend has great events in Manitou & Colorado Springs like Territory Days and BBQs. Some wear poppies, some raise American flags---we ask that you please take a moment to remember all those who have died in service to their country. In May 1868 General John Logan first proclaimed Decoration Day (now Memorial Day), where flowers "decorated" the graves of those who died in the Civil War and in 1915, Moina Michael penned:
We cherish too, the Poppy red
that grows on fields where valor led.
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never die.
