Monday night was the first total lunar eclipse in 400 years that coincided with the winter solstice. Every half hour from 10:30 p.m., we watched the progress of the shadow of the earth taking over the moon’s surface until it was a reddish brown ball in the sky. As the eclipse was reaching its totality at about 12:40 a.m., we stood bundled up in the back garden of our Inn and we listened to the fireworks and cheers from all over Manitou Springs. We could hear our guests enjoying the moment and at that instance realized that we were a part of something bigger than our own little world. The collective sharing of the awestricken was greater than the sum of the individual experience. It dawned on us that this is what social media is all about. Individual experiences being shared as a collective. This is the thought we will try to remember as we plow through learning about being on Facebook, etc. Hopefully there will be many more wonders to be experienced on and off the Internet!
Happy New Year to all from the Two Sisters Inn
